History:
Formed in 1936 as a drum and bugle corps, the Americanos, Inc. (a Wisconsin
based, U.S. 501(c) 3 nonprofit corporation) is one of the oldest marching
arts organizations still in existence today. Known by fans across the country
and around the world as the “Kings of Latin”, the drum and bulge
corps made history with their Latin distinction. From the sizzling sounds
of Salsa, to the driving pulse of the Mambo, the Americanos Drum and Bugle
Corps is remembered as being one of the most entertaining corps in the nation.
In 2005, the drum and bugle corps became inactive primarily due to increasing financial demands, external competitive requirements, and membership challenges. While continuing the operations of the bingo program, the organization took some time off to restructure for the future. The Americanos will maintain their mission and commitment to youth, but with a new vision of the structure.
2008 will mark the
realization of this new structure and vision. By providing programs that will
directly effect the “local” youth of the Fox River Valley, the
Americanos, Inc. will serve as an umbrella corporation that will oversee and
produce the Americanos Indoor Percussion Ensemble(s). The next step will be
to add winter guard(s), competitive marching band and parade ensemble.
Mission:
Our mission is to provide a positive and enjoyable educational experience
for youth, using music and performance as a means, by promoting education,
creativity, and freedom of expression through the unification of pageantry
and the marching arts.
Philosophy:
We rely heavily on a philosophy involving a family approach to what we do.
In fact the good of the family is a consideration in our every decision and
action. We believe a healthy philosophical approach to the marching arts activities
is the cornerstone to successful development. We are proud to create an environment
in which everyone – members, supporters, alumni, and staff – exist
to offer positive experiences for all.
By developing personality traits of dedication, discipline, and teamwork, participants learn what is required to be successful by instilling confidence, quality of character, and integrity. By providing support and education, we strive to contribute to the values of youth development, inclusiveness, artistry, and success.
